Thursday Press - bespoke letterpress printers

Our presses...

There are two presses in the studio: a huge cast iron antique Albion press, made in 1843, with a bed/platen size of 21 by 29 inches, so that we can make prints as big as A2.

It was manufactured by Hopkinson & Cope, who took over the business of the late R W Cope, the founding father of Albion Press production. The press has recently been professionally restored by Jeremy Winkworth in Cumbria and all but two small components are original.

We also have an Adana 8 by 5 hand press, used for some of the cards and finer detail work.
